 YOUR GIFT MATTERS

As a donor, volunteer or friend of the foundation, you make this possible through your gifts of support. Just some examples of our good work include providing financial assistance to GVR members facing hardships in paying their dues. Since 1995, more than 700 grants were awarded to GVR members, providing relief when they were struggling financially. This is done through contributions to the Member Assistance Program (MAP). The GVR Foundation is working to strengthen and enhance the MAP program.

Ways to Give

There are many options to choose from when giving through the GVR Foundation. Start achieving impact where it matters to you with a gift today; or leave a lasting legacy of caring for your community with a planned, matching, corporate or outright gift.

Planned Giving

There are many ways to give to the GVR Foundation.

Planned giving is one of the most important ways you can support our work and our mission.

Will or Trust

We are deeply honored by the generosity of those who leave a gift through their estate.

By naming the GVR Foundation as the beneficiary of a named amount in your will or trust, that amount is excluded from your estate for any transfer taxes that may be imposed.

Endowments

Endowment funds have been described as “the gift that keeps on giving”.

Endowment funds are invested to grow over the long-term.  The principal remains intact, and only the earnings on the fund are used to make charitable distributions each year.

Life Insurance

You may name the GVR Foundation by amount, by percent, or as a full beneficiary of a life insurance policy, and that amount will be excluded from your estate for tax purposes. You may also get a current tax deduction if you assign your current life insurance to the GVR Foundation of the full cash value of the policy at the time of the transfer.

Retirement Plans

When someone passes away, retirement assets are included for estate and income taxes.

If left to an individual beneficiary, most retirement plans are subject to income taxes.

You may have funds transferred directly from your retirement plan administrator to the GVR Foundation.  There would not be a taxable withdrawal to you.  This transfer could also satisfy your RMD (Required Minimum Distribution) in the year of the transfer.

Appreciated Securities

The real value of giving a gift of appreciated property is that you get a tax deduction for the full value of the gift, without paying any tax on the gain.

Personal Property

Items such as land, automobiles, or other personal property may be donated to the GVR Foundation – subject to prior approval by the GVR Foundation Board.

Cash & Recurring Donations

You may set up a regular monthly contribution to the GVR Foundation from your checking account, or you may direct the GVR Foundation to be the recipient of a stream of dividends from your investments.

At any time, you may make a tax deductible gift in cash from your current assets.

 Words of Thanks

“I have only praise and extreme thanks to the donors of the Members Assistance Program. I have been widowed for two years and my sole income is from Social Security. I am sure there are other members in my predicament, and MAP is an enormous help and relief.”

“MAP helped me recover mentally and physically after a very sudden, serious medical emergency. Although I had insurance, many were not covered and I faced a mountain of bills. I live on a fixed income, and have no family to help me. It took a big burden off my shoulders.”

“Just know that I am grateful and consider it a blessing that there are people in GVR who do make a difference for those of us in need.”

Your support helps to make Green Valley an exceptional place to live, learn and retire – and a place that continues to support our membership and community.
